How can the degree of change to the recipe's quantities be determined for each material?

Unit 3 Topic 8
Focus on Raw Materials

Controlled line, triaxial and quadraxial (biaxial) blends are most useful in the search for a desired change to a glaze involving the manipulation of the materials in the recipe.

Blending techniques involve the controlled mixing of two, three or four recipes to explore a range of variations on the original glazes.

Each recipe in the blend may be individually weighed and sieved, or a method called volumetric blending, may be adopted which involves mixing the end points of the blend as bulk recipes then dispensing measured amounts from these bulk recipes for the intermediate glazes in the blend.
