How can unity formula be used to substitute materials in the recipe of a glaze?

Using Unity Formula

The recipe is converted to a unity formula and then the process is reversed. When converting the formula back to a recipe different materials may be chosen to substitute for unavailable or unwanted ones.

In this example Recipe A has no clay. A lack of clay in the recipe would make this recipe difficult to handle as it would tend not to suspend well in the glaze bucket and would not bind well to the form when applied.

We can get some clay into this glaze by converting the recipe to a unity formula then back to a recipe again. In the process of conversion back to a recipe we can pick materials which will enable some clay to be included in the recipe.

This process is easily managed by glaze computer software such as Matrix.
